As the war in Ukraine unfolded, Euronews correspondents worked there to cover the events that will continue to have a dramatic impact on our world in the years to come.
"As a reporter and a Ukrainian, I feel it’s crucial to reveal the overwhelming toll of this war for millions whose existence has been changed forever by Russia’s invasion. Every minute of each life has been turned upside down across the country and beyond," says our reporter Natalia Liubchenkova.
"The war is not only shocking in terms the numbers of deaths, injuries or the destruction statistics. Nobody is ever entirely safe, nobody is okay, and everybody is missing somebody who left the country or is fighting on the frontlines.
It’s thousands of messages that will never reach their destination, it's a shuttering silence with no news from loved ones, it’s swapping warm offices for the trenches and holidays with no sign of familiar smiles.
Ukrainians more often talk of anger than of fear. Life continues despite it all."
There are many ways to cope with the grief of seeing your life, your business, and everything you thought of as normal falling apart. Many find comfort in volunteering to help the army, to rebuild destroyed infrastructure, to transform businesses to support the army or those most in need.
By clicking on the player above you'll find a selection of photographs Natalia took when reporting in 2022. You’ll see Ukrainians who lived through the horrors of war. They make a choice every day to move on, to keep fighting, to rebuild their lives and help others in doing so.
